The Valley’s frozen lakes are a hive of activity during the winter months with ice fishing, skating and cross-country skiing to name a few activities. In 2014 the Lake Windermere Whiteway was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the world’s longest outdoor skating trail.

The Columbia Valley is home to many small communities including Radium Hot Springs, Invermere, Windermere, Wilmer, Edgewater and Canal Flats to the south.
